Program
UIST 2026 runs Monday, November 2 through Thursday, November 5, 2026 at the Detroit Marriott at the Renaissance Center. Monday is devoted to workshops and the Doctoral Symposium; the main conference runs Tuesday through Thursday. All times are Eastern Time (ET).
Full program
The full program, with every session, paper, room, and time, is in the SIGCHI program app. You can browse it on the web, build your own schedule by starring sessions, and add it to your phone’s home screen to use at the conference.
Paper presentations
Presentation slots are:
- Full papers: 12 minutes, a 10-minute presentation followed by 2 minutes of Q&A.
- Short papers: 8 minutes, a 6-minute presentation followed by 2 minutes of Q&A.
Each paper block runs five parallel tracks. See the full program for which session and room each paper is in.
Meals & breaks
Coffee breaks are provided each morning and afternoon at the venue.
Lunch is on your own. Lunch breaks run 12:15–1:45 PM on Monday and 12:30–2:00 PM Tuesday through Thursday. You will need to head outside the venue to eat: downtown Detroit has plenty of options within a short walk, or a free ride on the People Mover, whose Renaissance Center station is in the venue itself. Take a jacket — see what to expect from the weather.
At the Doctoral Symposium, or the Revibing HCI workshop? Those meet at the University of Michigan Detroit Center rather than the conference venue, so plan your lunch break around the trip.
Evening events
- Monday, 5:00–9:00 PM — Welcome Reception, Ren Foyer East. Kick off the week with the rest of the attendees as workshops wrap up.
- Tuesday, 6:00–9:00 PM — Posters & Demos Reception, Ontario Exhibit Hall. The demo and poster session doubles as the evening reception.
- Wednesday, 6:00–9:00 PM — Reception at the Henry Ford Museum. An off-site evening at the Henry Ford Museum of American Innovation in Dearborn, with food served and transportation provided in both directions from the conference venue. One ticket is included with full conference registration; guests need an extra ticket. Full details on the Henry Ford Museum reception page →
Thursday evening has no scheduled programming once the closing plenary finishes, and neither do the days on either side of the conference. See Things to Do on Your Own for what is on in the city that week.
