Children and Care Givers

When you register yourself, you can also register children and/or a care giver (for yourself or for the child).

  • Children (USD 10) — registered children are welcome to attend any UIST event, including the Demo Reception and the Conference Banquet. No drink tickets will be included with child registration. You do not have to register your child, of course, but if you want to bring them to any of the events, they have to be formally registered so that they are covered by the ACM insurance.
  • Care Givers (USD 50) — this registration category is for people providing care to the conference attendees with impairments or to the chidren of conference attendees. It grants the person access to all events (including the Demo Reception) except the Tuesday night Banquet. No drink tickets will be included with the care giver registration. If you would like your care giver to attend the Banquet, you will be able to purchase an additional Banquet ticket when you register your care giver.

Cancelation Policy

Cancelations will full refund by October 4th, 2019. Cancelation requests submitted by the end of October 18th, 2019 will be charged a 50% cancellation fee.

Visa

The Association for Computing Machinery does not issue formal invitation letters for visas. We can however issue a visa support letter.

For visa support letters, please send all requests to the Office of SIG Services via e-mail to supportletters@acm.org with the following information:

  • The name of the conference you wish to attend.
  • Registration confirmation number.
  • If you are the author of any papers accepted for the conference, please provide the title.
  • Email Address or Fax number

Visa Support letters will be issued via email or fax.

Those requesting a letter should allow 7-10 business days to receive it. If you do not receive your visa support letter in a timely fashion, please let the registration chairs at registration@uist.org know, so that we can follow up with appropriate action.

For participants under visa waiver program of the United States must apply for ESTA authorization at least 72 hours before travel (https://esta.cbp.dhs.gov/).

Carbon Offsetting Program

To help lower the impact of holding UIST, you will have the opportunity to make a contribution toward carbon offsetting activities during registration time. For more details, please see our sustainability page.

Transportation

Airport to hotel

  1. ConferenceShare – ConferenceShare is a web app that allows you to meet and coordinate with other conference attendees to share housing and transport to the conference. It is a startup created by Carnegie Mellon graduate students to facilitate resource sharing for conferences. To get started, simply select UIST from app’s drop down menu and create an account. The app will then allow you to contact other attendees to coordinate transport and housing.
  2. Public Transport – The Royal Sonesta is located 1hr. by public transit from the airport. The public transit system specifically offers the Airport Express bus for commuting between the airport and downtown: bus E2. You can also use it to reach the hotel by getting off at the intersection of Tulane and Loyola avenues and walking 12 minutes, or taking an additional bus—49—and walking 5 minutes. See below for more information on New Orleans public transit.

Hotel to Aquarium/local restaurants/experiences
