UIST96 is the premier forum for innovations in developing human-computer
interfaces. The symposium brings together user-interface researchers and
practitioners with an interest in techniques, tools, and technology for
constructing high-quality, innovative user interfaces. The intimate size,
single track, and comfortable surroundings make this symposium an ideal
opportunity to exchange research results and implementation experiences.
Papers, TechNotes, Panels, and Demos are present on a wide range of user-interface topics.
This year, UIST is emphasizing real world experience with novel interfaces. Invited talks by James Gosling, Fred Brooks, and Randy Pausch focus on this theme. The University of Washington and its HITLab (virtual reality lab) will also host an evening of demonstrations.
