Demos

For the first time, UIST `94 will feature an evening of informal demos. Demos enable conference attendees to view and try systems in action, as well as to discuss the systems with the people who created them. All demos will be given in parallel in an informal setting (i.e., small groups gathered around workstations). The session will last three hours; a demo should be less than 30 minutes long so that it can be given many times. We will attempt to provide one machine for each demo.

A demo submission will be evaluated on the basis of its potential to work well as a demo, while bringing new and innovative research ideas to the conference. Commercial products are eligible, but sales and marketing activities are not appropriate. The submission should consist of a cover letter indicating the primary author's name, affiliation, address, phone number, and email address (if at all possible), and three copies of the following:

• A two page summary of research contributions illustrated in the demo.
• A detailed description of hardware and software requirements. Please state whether you can bring the necessary hardware and software to the conference.
• A demo storyboard with at least six screen pictures (not more than six pages, including pictures), or an NTSC VHS videotape of the demo.

  Submissions must be received by the demos chair no later than April 18, 1994. FAX cannot be used for submission. Authors will be notified of acceptance by June 30, 1994.
